v  They have learnt the translations, explanations, grammatical notes as mentioned in the syllabus.

v  They have also come to know the writing skill of the famous poet Kalidasa.

Śiśupālvadham v  The students become aware of the poetic excellence of Magha.

v  Textual Grammar, translation, thematic analyses have been taught in the classes.

Nītiśatakam v  Students have enjoyed the classes of Nītiśataka as the book is relevant in the present time also.

v   Translation, explanation, social experiences of Bhatṛhari, types of fool are included in the syllabus.

v  Students have become quite aware of them.

v  The course is designed to acquaint the students with Nītiśataka, the famous collection of Bhatṛhari of verses with high ethical value.

History of Sanskrit Poetry v  In the classes Aśvaghoṣa, Kālidāsa, Bhāravi, Māgha, Śrīharṣa, Jaydeva, Bhatṛhari have been thoroughly discussed.

v  The students are well known of these poets’s contribution in the Sanskrit Literature.

v  Students have become aware of the origin and development of deferent types of Mahākāvya, Gītikāvya and other works along with their poets.

v  A student can have a basic familiarity to Sanskrit culture and religious background.

A2 06 Śuknāsopadeśa v  The students become aware of the society and political thought as depicted in Śuknāsopadeśa.

v  They become enriched the logical meaning and ethical value of the book.

v  The advices given by Śukanāsa are highly relevant even in today’s world.

v  Risks of the dangers that come in with wealth, youth and evil company are beautifully narrated in the text.

v  The text is a must-read for all Sanskrit students.

Śivarājavijayam v  It is a historical Upanyāsa.

v   Text reading, poetic excellence, plot, timing of Action, Grammar, translation, explanation have been taught in the classes.

Survey of Sanskrit Literature v  In the classes Subandhu, Bāṇa, Daṇḍin, Ambikādatta Vyāsa has been thoroughly discussed.

v  The students are well known of these poets’s contribution in the Sanskrit Literature.

v  Students have learnt about Pañcatantra, Hitopadeśa, Vetālpañcavimśatikā, Simhāsanadvātrimśikā and Puruṣapar their authors.

v  They have also learnt about the moralities of the tales in Sanskrit literature.

A3 06 Abhijñānaśakuntalam v  The students have learnt text reading, grammar, translation, explanation, poetic excellence, plot, timing of Action, personification of nature.

v  They become aware of explanation of terms nāndī, prastāvanā, sūtradhāra, naṭī, viṣkambhaka, vidūṣaka.

v  From this drama students know about female education.

v  Our students can have a wonderful idea about the Nature-love of the great poet Kalidasa. It is truly said “Nature’s sympathy for human beings is a characteristics of Kalidasa’s poetry”.

v  Students come to know the valuable opinion of Kanva regarding the duties of a house-wife, which is relevant even today.

v  They can estimate Kalidasa’s conception of love as reflected in the work.

v  Our students can have an account of social atmosphere of the then time (4th century A.D) as it is painted in Abhijñānaśakuntalam by Kalidasa. Such as—- Police system, punishment for theft, revenue system, duties and troubles of Kingship, inter caste-marriage and so on.

v  The students definitely enjoy “tenderness in expression of feelings, and richness of creative fancy of the world- famous poet Kalidasa”.

Technical Terms from Sanskrit Dramaturgy v  In the classes nāṭaka, nāyaka, nāyikā, pūrvaraṇga, nāndī,sūtradhāra, nepathya, prastāvanā, kañcukī and vidūṣaka have been thoroughly discussed.

v  The students also become aware of the term aṇka, svagta, prakāśa, apavārita, janāntika, ākāśabhāṣita, Biṣkambhaka, praveśaka and Bharatvākyam.

v  The course introduces students to the essentials of the technical terms of Sāhityadarpaṇa of Biswanath Kaviraja

SEC A-1 02 Vernacular to Sanskrit & Sanskrit to Vernacular v  Translation is a very essential part of learning a language.

v  Our students get acquainted with the language and also can have a thorough idea of the same.

v  They are able to understand and write in Sanskrit language.

 

 

SEC A-1 02 Comprehension in Sanskrit v  They have to go through a certain paragraph in Sanskrit, understand the language and subject matter and then have to answer in Sanskrit.

v  This obviously develops their skill for writing in Sanskrit language.

Letter Writing v  Letter-writing helps the students to express their thoughts within a concise format.

v  Additionally, it also enhances their skill towards being able to write fluently in Sanskrit language.

Paragraph Writing & Easy Writing v  When it comes to Paragraph and essay motivation remains the same.

v  It is to develop their understanding of a language and to be able to write it efficiently.

v  All this effort is towards learning a language and being able to express in Sanskrit.

A4 06 Saṃjñāprakaraṇa v  It is designed for making the students familiar to Varadarāja’s simple analysis on Sandhi, Sañjā and Vibhaktyartha Prakaraṇa.

v  These form significant portions of the Siddhāntakaumudī, a commentarial write-up on Paṇinis Aṣṭādhyāyī.

v  They have learnt some technical terms or sañjā part of the grammar.

Sandhiprakaraṇa v  The students become aware of yaṇ, guṇa, dīrgha, ayādi, vṛddhi, pūrvarupa, ścutva, utva, anunāsikatva, chhatva and jaśtva, utva of vsargasandhi, lopa, ṣatva and rutva.
Vibhaktyarthaprakaraṇa v  Students have come to know about kāraka and vibhakti.

v  These are the fundamental topics to understand Paṇini’s grammar which is very scientific and methodical.

v  Having gone through the topics our students can understand the Sanskrit language properly.

4 06 Vibhaktyarthaprakaraṇa v  Our students become familiar to the wonderful technique followed by Paṇini for composing sūtras of his grammar Aṣṭādhyāyī.

v  The course has enhanced the inquisitiveness of student for knowing the science and methodology of Paṇini’s grammar.

v  The course has increased ability of the students to read and understand Sanskrit texts. It has increased knowledge and understanding of Sanskrit grammar.

SEC B-1 02 Spoken Sanskrit v  The objective of teaching spoken Sanskrit is firstly to give the students a taste of Sanskrit as a living language.

v  This gives them an understanding and appreciation of

the language.

v  Students can demonstrate the skills needed to participate in conversation that builds knowledge.

Dharma

 

v  In Bhagavad Gītā has long been influencing

people not only in India but around the world.

Gītā teaches us various important principles that

            relate to work, life, religion, philosophy and

spiritually. So it is helpful for showing the

students the right path in life.

Saṃskāra and Puruṣārtha v  Developing the concept of daiva and puruṣārtha

opens the door of intuition and inspiration for living a

happy and spiritual life.

v  The benefits of understanding karmas are that it

discourages the students from performing

unwholesome actions as it will bring out suffering.

Svadharma Svadharma has been designed as multidisciplinary foundation programme.

v  It provides the learner with knowledge and skills to develop themselves further in any field of work that one may get drawn into.

DSE-1 6 Svadharma v  The learning objective of the Svadharma is intended to be 1) inner development and 2) outer manifestation.

v  The inner development is envisioned to help the student to identify one’s inner nature by developing self-awareness and self mastery.

Svadharma programme is only laying the foundations for the students to make the life long journey with self-awareness and self mastery.

DSE-2 6 (Indian Perspectives in Personality Development)

Historical Perspective

v  The students come to know about Vedas and

Upaniṣads which contain the spiritual experiences and

revelations of sages which are known to be products

of highest wisdom.

v  Knowledge about religion and philosophy of India

helps to students to enrich their life definitely.

Concept of Person v  Invaluable Ślokas of Bhagavad Gītā can help the students to find solutions to the various problems of everyday life.

v  Reading the Bhagavad Gītā introduces the students to the truth about life and helps to attain freedom from superstition and false beliefs.

v  Knowledge gained from Gītā dispels their doubts and build their confidence.

Personality Types v  Teachings from Gītā tell the students to think well before they act.

v  The Ślokas of Gītā tell the students about their duties as human beings.

Measures for behavioural Improvement v  Reading Gītā helps the students to understand the importance of self control and how to practice it.

v  Teachings of Gītā tell the students how to practise niṣkāma karma or action without desire.

 

 

DSE 3 6 (Literary Criticism)

Kāvyaprakāśa

Kāvyavaiśiṣṭya and Kāvyaprojana, Kāvyakāraṇa, Kāvyasvarūpa and Kāvyabheda.

v  The rhetoric work Kāvyādarśa provides the students

with a different way of looking at a given work

can ultimately reveal important aspects about it.

v  It helps to analyze, study and evaluate works of

literature.

v  The book helps to form general principles for the

examination of works of literature.

Kāvyādarśa develops their skill for comparison,

       analysis, interpretation of works of literature.

v  This study helps a student to examine the merits and

demerits or defects of a kāvya and to evaluate it.

v  The students come to know the necessity of a kāvya

as well as principal elements of a kāvya.

v  They can have though knowledge about different

types of kāvya.

v  Having studied the technical aspects of a kāvya they

can precede for further studies.

DSE 4 6 Contributions of Sanskrit Literature to Freedom Struggle Movement v  The course introduces the brief survey of Socio-

SEC A-2 2 (Basic Elements of Ᾱyurveda)

Introduction of Ᾱyurveda

Carakasaṃhitā

(Sūtrasthānam)

v  Students can understand the principles of healthy life

style having gone through the Carakasaṃhitā.

v  The students come to know about Ᾱyurveda that

believes five basic elements Pañcabhūtas (space, air,

fire, water and earth) manifest in the human body as

three basic humours known as tridoṣas (vāta, pitta

and kapha) that govern creation, stability, distraction.

v  Students can have knowledge of ancient Indian

treatment methods.

v  As Carakasaṃhitā deals with surgery; head eye and

throat medicine; mental health, paediatrics,

toxicology, it enhances their interest for further study.

Taittirīyopaniṣad Tittiriyopaniṣad describes vividly importance and utility of anna and the students can have a thorough idea about anna and learn to respect it.

v  It is repeatedly said that anna that keeps the body alive, May it not be disrespect and so on.

Yogasūtra of Patañjali (Samādhipāda, Sādhanapāda, Vibhūtipāda) v  To introduce a regular and rigorous practice (sādhana) of yoga.

v  Students learn procedures of prāṇāyām

v  It makes students realize the extraordinary value of true happiness by a comprehensive psychoanalytical and highly rational system.
