Students who graduate with English General is expected to acquire specific skills that include amongst others

Understanding: From the reading of particular texts prescribed in the syllabus the students will learn to identify themselves with the mood and temperament of the authors and understanding appropriately.

Critical thinking: In the course of their learning the students will acquire the skill to think critically on all matters.

Ethics: From the assimilation of the direct and indirect information gained from their reading of the texts the students will derive moral codes, rules or principles of behaviour.
Appropriate communication: The students will now be ready for effective communication. They will properly understand and respond to the communications of others both in speech and writings.

Speaking skills: The BA English Programme also helps to grow the speaking skills among the students.

Writing skills: The programme increases the writing skills among the students.

Comprehension skills: The programme enhances the comprehensive skill among the students.

Social interaction: Students will be able to deal appropriately with others in society.

Effectively they will prepare themselves to cope with their surroundings.
Confidence building: The BA English Programme builds extra confidence among the students.
